Creation of UnivEarthS radio club for the IGOSat project

Contact a satellite in orbit around the Earth is simple … on paper. In practice, it is important to prepare well in advance, and of course to get the necessary permissions.

To ensure optimal use of radio waves in France, the National Agency for Frequencies (ANFR) is in charge of regulating radiofrequency emissions in the territory. It supervises the authorizations with certifications for individuals or clubs.

Under the IGOSat project, the UnivEarthS radio club was created, to ensure a legal support for the future telecommunications between the nanosatellite and the ground station of Paris. A test phase with satellites already in orbit will be performed this year, to prepare the launch operations in 2018.

If successful, this station could be used in other missions in the future … Fingers crossed!
