Soil moisture and roughness are two essential variables of the Earth’s and planetary surfaces. Their measurement finds applications in agriculture, meteorology, continental hydrology, defense or planetary science. Remote sensing in the solar domain may provide useful information but reflectance is rarely simply related to these variables. This project investigates further this topic through laboratory experiments, numerical simulations, and inversion of radiative transfer models.
